The Kona Contractors team is seeking an individual to join us in the role of Builder. This position entails a high degree of teamwork and communication throughout projects led by a team leader along with other skilled and semi-skilled laborers to completion. We would expect that every member of our team produces work that measures up to our high standard in quality – we do not build junk! Along with quality, this position requires experience and knowledge of (not mastery of) deck construction, hardscapes, framing, drywall, tile work, and interior trim. This individual would be involved in all phases of the projects through to completion. Our phases of construction encompass all areas but most commonly in decks, patios, roof covers, pergolas, and outdoor living spaces. When we enter snow season, snow removal work (plow truck operator) is required.

All of our team members must take initiative and be self-motivated to complete tasks on time with attention to detail. Critical thinking is necessary to assess situations overall, resolve issues, and remain composed in stressful or emergency situations. The ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships is integral to reinforcing teamwork and outside entities – good judgment and resourcefulness in dealing with outside parties and internal team members is key.
We insist that our team promotes honesty, integrity, and reliability in all aspects of our work. This lends itself to a high degree of professionalism and dedication. With our clients, we deliver a service-oriented focus by committing to provide them with timely, responsive service and plan our work to meet the established schedules.
Other Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • A valid driver’s license with a good driving record
  • Knowledge of public works safety issues, regulations, and procedures
  • Skill in effectively communicating ideas and concepts
  • Some experience in building, and grounds maintenance and equipment maintenance.
